College student. Semi-pro television critic (first at thevoiceoftv.com, now at tvdonewright.com).

Steals portions of your life one blog post at a time.

Does not enjoy hate backed up with no concrete evidence.

Helped build one of the largest active CRIMINAL MINDS-dedicated fansites on the Internet. Helped start the first SOUTHLAND-dedicated fansite.

Loves ANGEL, DEATH VALLEY, ER, FLASHFORWARD, GLEE, LAW & ORDER (Mostly just The Elisabeth Rohm Years of the Original, SVU, and LA), LOST GIRL, MEDICAL INVESTIGATION, PARKS AND RECREATION, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, RENO 911!, SOUTHLAND, THE INSIDE, THIRD WATCH, WAREHOUSE 13 and many many more.

Likes good music, but the list of favorite artists varies too much to write it all down.

Loves to read (and therefore) loves good books.

Her dog and cat are awesome.

After college she hopes to become a television writer, or a professional television critic. If that doesn't work out...she will probably be a lawyer.

So…

Rachel Nichols’ new show Continuum premieres in TWO DAYS at 9pm on Showcase in Canada. That’s May 27 at 9pm on the channel called Showcase in the country of Canada if you need me to break it down for you.

This means that all my Canadian pals should watch it so that it gets super popular and some channel here in the U.S. picks it up too.

Because A) It’s Rachel freakin’ Nichols, B)The show sounds super kickass, and C) I’m selfish and I want the opportunity to legally watch the show and support it properly.

Get to it Canadian friends. Feed my selfishness.

Fandoms are aggravating.

There are so many reasons why I gave up caring about online fandoms of television shows.

(This list is in no particular order and is not all-inclusive.)

1) They take up way too much time that should be spent elsewhere.

2) People get far too involved in the show, refuse to simply enjoy it, analyze EVERYTHING, and refuse to consider the fact that they’re really just fishing for flaws.

3) Pure stupidity. For example, do you know how many people on the Glee Facebook truly think the show is ending after this season? Do you know how many people refused to acknowledge that the addition of Ashley Seaver on Criminal Minds did nothing to the ratings? A lot.

4) Crazy shippers who fish for clues that their extremely non-likely couple is real, always insist that said couple is real, and feel insulted when it is pointed out to them that they’re sort of delusional.

5) They made watching TV less enjoyable. Seeing all that negativity and angsty stuff on the fansites made me start to become negative and angsty towards my favorite shows.

EDIT: To elaborate on this post… I helped run a very popular fansite for the TV Show Criminal Minds for several years, from mid 2007 until mid 2011 to be exact. I also ran said fansite’s Twitter feed. I also tried to shift into the Glee fandom when I started to get into the show, but quickly pulled back when I realized that it had already morphed into the mess that the Criminal Minds fandom had become…and Glee was only in its third season compared to CriMi being in its sixth when I left. I have many positive memories and connected with several people during my years in the Criminal Minds fandom. I do not hate fandoms and I recognize their positive aspects, I am just pointing out some of the reasons why I will no longer participate in them.

My mother tried to wake me up this morning. This happened.

Me: Five more minutes.

Mom: Fine. But only five. You need to get up. *walks away*

Me: Wait!

Mom: What?

Me: How many books did the President write, to this day?

Mom: What did you just say?

Me: Barack Obama.

Mom: Why are you asking me this?

Me: He's the President.

She later recounted this entire "conversation" to me. I had no memory of it. The things I say when sleep-talking...

I grew up listening to Gloria Estefan music, so naturally I adore her.

Santana is my favorite character on Glee, so naturally I adore her.

Gloria Estefan is portraying Santana’s mother on Glee, so naturally my head explodes.

Oh jeez…

I love how some Glee fans are saying that they won’t watch next season.

That’s just hilarious.

Odds are youwill.

You don’t watch a show for three years and then just give it up without watching a few episodes of the upcoming season you say you won’t.

You also cannot hate something you haven’t seen yet.

I just noticed that I haven’t gotten early access to episodes of Glee since my not-so-stellar (compared to other critics) review of “The First Time.”

Coincidence? Probably.

But it’s a silly coincidence!

Anyway, I hope they give me access again. I honestly love writing reviews of Glee. It’s one of the only shows I make an effort to watch live every week.
